Yamaha SR500 Big Bore Short Stroke Engine Build

Over the next few months I’ll be building and doing a how to guide on building a high performance Yamaha SR500 engine. These same practices can be transferred to a Yamaha XT500 and a Yamaha TT500.
A local racing legend, Mike Mendenhall wanted to build a 500 flat track motor with a big bore kit, but then put a SR400 crank in it to allow the bike to rev faster. This is the Yamaha SR500 engine I will be building. I will also be lightening and balancing the crank, and doing a full porting job, I will be going over the full breakdown of how I restore/build engines. I will be featuring a few people that have agreed to assist with the build as well. I have put together a list of parts that I will be using as well!
